New owners at Blomstermåla

In addition to Katrin Axelsson, the new team behind the venture includes her husband Per Edwall, experienced chef Christopher Sanderson and restaurant manager Axel Ardfelt. In addition to a refreshed premises, guests will be introduced to a new menu."We want to be a watering hole and oasis by the sea for everything from lunch and dinner guests to party enthusiasts. We will continue to invest in developing our premises to remain an obvious choice for wedding parties, birthday parties and corporate events. We will also be visited by live bands and various artists," says Axel Ardfelt.

New menu

The new menu will feature classic flavors but in a more fun way. For example, the classic Löjromstoast will be replaced by Löjrom with crushed fried potatoes, chopped sour cream, chopped red onion, chives and lemon. It will be seasonal ingredients in beautiful harmony with a little twist. The menu is changed every 5 weeks to give guests new taste experiences and give the kitchen new challenges.

In our pantry

Särö and Blomstermåla are located at the intersection of Bohuslän and Halland. We approach these contrasts in our own way, but always with the quality of the raw material in focus. In Halland, seas and rivers, fertile farmland and deep forests meet where Bohuslän in our version stands for salty fish and shellfish. We work a lot with local suppliers. We work with raw materials in season.

History

From playground for kings to train station to restaurant.

1254

The three Nordic kings met in 1254 in Släp parish in northern Halland. The aim was to regulate certain borders between the three countries. Särö then fell to Denmark. With some interruptions, Särö belonged to Denmark until 1645, when Halland became Swedish for 30 years through the Peace of Brömsebro.

1839

In 1839, Särö Havsbad was built by the then owner of the island, with cold and hot baths for both men and women. Särö was established as a bathing and spa resort, one of the first in the country. In the same year, pleasure trips by steamboat to Särö were advertised on Sundays "if the weather permits and a sufficient number of passengers have signed up" - the first steamboat dock was in Stallviken.

1870

Särö, with its idyllic setting only 20 miles south of Gothenburg, quickly developed into a summer paradise for wealthy Gothenburgers in particular. Many royal guests and prominent people also visited Särö over the years. In addition to bathing, recreational activities in the 1870s included croquet, skittles and cricket, boat and fishing trips, walks, horseback riding and horse-drawn carriage rides. In 1879 tennis, a completely new sport, was introduced on Särö.
A house by the railroad in 1904

1904

The railway was inaugurated, winding along the beautiful coastline between Gothenburg and Särö. Säröbanan's final station, which was named Särö Västerskog, was built next to the steamboat bridge.

1952

In the 1950s, something happened along the Särö Line that caused some amusement. Two of the black steam locomotives from 1903, which were in the engine shed overnight, had been painted with flowers and leaves in pink, yellow and white during the dark hours. Locomotive drivers and firemen who had spent the night in Särö could hardly believe their eyes when they discovered it all.
